Yale University Whiffenpoofs of 2004Enjoy Yale's premier collegiate male glee club on their world tour to benefit children's literacy. The world-renowned Whiffenpoofs will sing songs from various styles and eras ranging from classic jazz to English folk songs to pop hits.

All proceeds will benefit Page Ahead and help to provide new books and promote literacy for at-risk children across Washington State. "We are thrilled to have the Whiffenpoofs donate their vocal talents to children who need books," said Sam Whiting, Page Ahead's Executive Director.

The Whiffenpoofs of 2004 have pledged a portion of their world tour proceeds to children's literacy, choosing Page Ahead as the recipient of their generosity in Washington State. "As young men and students at Yale University, we believe our support is particularly significant," commented a spokesman for the group. "Yale University was founded on Elihu Yale's gift of 417 books; we think it's fitting for us to carry on the tradition of giving books as gifts."

In addition to performing at "A Taste of Reading," the Whiffenpoofs plan to visit schools, perform for children, and establish local literacy centers. A song about reading has been composed for inclusion on a CD to be distributed to families. Said one member of the group, "We believe music can help teach the message."
