Page Ahead works with businesses, school groups and community organizations to collect new books to be distributed through our programs. We also link groups to specific schools for "adoption". Volunteers provide the books (through book drives or cash contributions) for the at-risk children in a program and then participate in reading events within those programs.

For the fifth year, fifth graders at Bryant Elementary will host a new book drive with their fellow students. We can't wait to see how they "bust" illiteracy!

National Children's Book Week

May 12 - 18 , 2008

Celebrate National Children's Book Week by donating a new book at one of these stores! For the first time ever, independent bookstores across Washington will band together to collect new books for children whose families cannot afford books of their own. Page Ahead will distribute the books to children from low-income families throughout the state. Additionally, many of the participating bookstores will donate 10% of sales that week to Page Ahead.

Bonny Becker, author of the newly released "A Visitor for Bear," will help celebrate National Children's Book Week by reading at Edmonds Bookshop at 10:30a on Saturday, May 17. Join her and the folks at Edmonds Bookshop to help kids in need learn to read!
