We only distribute brand-new books. A new book tells a child, “You are valuable.” Everyone deserves new books!
Check our wish lists (Bookshop, PaperPie Learning, or Amazon) to find high-interest titles we know kids will love.
We accept books for children from birth through age 12. In other words, everything from books like The Very Hungry Caterpillar through books like A Wrinkle in Time.
Please make sure books are non-religious, non-holiday-themed, and appropriate. No tacit or overt endorsements of hatred, oppression, exclusion, or injustice.
You can drop off books at our office or order them online for delivery to our office (1130 NW 85th St, Seattle, WA 98117). Check out our wishlists at Bookshop (when you shop here, Page Ahead gets 10% of your purchase price back as a donation), PaperPie Learning (when you shop here, 50% of every purchase goes back to Page Ahead as more free books), or Amazon.
Please contact us to schedule your drop-off to ensure someone is at our office to meet you.
And remember that we only accept NEW books1; we do not have the office space or the personnel resources to manage used book donations, no matter what condition they are in, because we need to focus on our mission-based work around new books. If you have used books in good condition you’d like to donate somewhere, look into wonderful organizations like Mary’s Place (they accept children’s books published after 2015), Treehouse, Wellspring, KidVantage, and WestSide Baby.
Or consider adding your gently loved kids’ books to the shelves of one of our Book Oasis Little Free Libraries! They are in Seattle book deserts where we know kids could use more access to books, and all community members are invited to participate.
