Have a DAF? Here’s How It Can Put Books in Kids’ Hands

October 8 is National DAF Day

Do you have a donor-advised fund? October 8 is DAF Day, a day when supporters across the country recommend grants from their funds to causes they love. It’s a great moment to put your fund to work for young readers in our community.

What is a DAF?

A donor-advised fund is a giving account with your name on it. It works in three steps:

Give to your fund. You can add cash, stock, or other assets.

Receive your tax benefit. You get an immediate charitable tax deduction.

Recommend grants. When you’re ready, you choose which nonprofits receive support.

Why people give this way

A DAF is flexible by design. You can give when it works for you, then recommend grants over time. You can gift stock or other assets, not just cash. Your giving records stay in one place, and recommending a grant takes just a few clicks on your fund’s website.

What your gift does

A $50 grant provides a home library of 12 books to one child. Every gift to Page Ahead helps children across Washington State find books they love and build a habit of reading at home, with support from the families and teachers in their lives.

How to give to Page Ahead

You can recommend your grant on October 8, or any day that works for you.

Log in to your DAF account.

Enter your DAF name or provider on our donation form. Or, you can search for Page Ahead Children’s Literacy Program directly from your DAF provider.

Our EIN is 91-1600084.

Choose your grant amount and submit your recommendation.

Know someone with a DAF? Please share this post with them. Thank you for being part of our community and for helping get books to kids who need them most!

Please check with your financial advisor about your own tax situation.
